I think you're off to a good start, but it lacks depth. Why is the middle of the trunk so bright? I think applying some more shadow to the leaves and the trunk would make it easier to tell where the light source is and how the leaves are positioned in relation to each other.
Don't worry about the shape of the leaves, but try to visualize how the surface is angled. The parts of the leaves angled towards the light source will be brighter, and you get a kind of gradient effect where the leaf curves since the angle slowly changes. Next, try to visualize where shadows are cast. You've placed the light source on the other side of the tree, judging by the shadow cast by the trunk. This should leave a lot of it in shadow, and the leaves closest to us will have shadows cast on them from the other leaves.
It's a bit more complicated than that outside since the sky reflects a lot of light, and leaves are slightly transparent, but this edit might help illustrate the difference a few changes in shading can make.
