Here is something I've been wanting to do for a long time: an Art Nouveau pixelfont. I kept saying that it's gonna take too much time and effort to create some elaborate shapes that are not meant to be pixel-drawn. Even now, I think I should add some anti-aliasing on the borders, but I left it as it is for the contest. So, let's start with the begining:
Reférences: all poster-reproductions I could find in my Mucha album. Alphabet: Capital letters French, with accents and ligatures. Palette 4 colors + background=5
I looooooove Mucha! This is awesome. I agree though, it could use a tad of inner AA, no outer AA. You don't have to blur the hell out of the lines, but just smooth out the bigger curves a bit - a subtle change can make a huge difference. The A is my favorite! And I agree about the 4 too, it looks rather sloppy, not really hitting the style imo.
@Souly - Just like that. I didn't like the capital H... And it's a little less boring to have a character that brakes the rule of the series... the element of surprise é_è...
@Wolverine - Right. I agree. inner and outer, around the highlights. But not for this contest. I allready started to apply AA on the first letters, to see how it's best. It adds 2 colors (the third is the background color) and it works allmost fine... the fine lines become a little bit blurry. I'll post the result on DA, probably, in a few days, if I don't fall in love w this crispy look
Hehehe! "Annguis in herba" means serpent in the grass in Latin (when using this type of font, one can look also a taunt snobbish and debonair, just to get synchronized with the writing ^_^' It's a little bit big, I know... (some will say "WAR" headlines) but it's for titles and I didn't even want to try making it smaller... See ya!

@Rooster - I think you wanted to ask if he was Polish? I've looked at your profile :p (elementary, my dear Watson...) He was Czech, I think....
