Selected (read: not completely awful) works from 2005-2007.
1. Vertically tiling tree - 2005-11-22 – A tree created for the remake of an old game that I never finished. Copying and pasting one leaf rids the piece of volume, and I’m not sure what I was trying to accomplish with the broken black outlines on the sides of the trunk. And thus began my horrible obsession with sel-out to black.
2. Viking - 2005-12-21 – It’s a viking. I like the horns and little else about this piece.
3. Cocoa icon - 2005-12-26 – Made for use on AIM. I used to make awful borders like these all the time (No. 2, 4, and maybe 7 originally had borders)
4. Smoo - 2005-12-28 – The character design isn’t mine, but it’s one I’ve played with a lot over the years. Those are supposed to be Converse Chuck Taylor shoes. I like the shading here (the sel-out to black not so much).
5. Boxes - 2006-02-05 – Made for a small minigame for a contest (that I won despite the fact that the game was bugged). The colors are from Matriax’s palettes. I had (still have?) a bad habit of shading everything curved, which kind of shows here.
6. Soccer banner - 2006-04-18 – A banner made for somebody else’s soccer game. I also worked on the player sprites for it, but this single banner is the only thing I like from the entire endeavor. And of course it has my name on it.
7. Cyborg pineapple - 2006-05-01 – It was originally just your ordinary regular, non-cyborgian pineapple with a seal face, but for some reason or another, I slapped on robotic pieces. More gratuitous black, and a really cheap (and inaccurate) way to texture pineapples. =3
8. Giant manta - 2006-05-08 – Remember that PJ game that involved stages for sedgemonkey, PixelBlink, etc.? This was originally created for the underwater level of that, and the remora shown here clearly mimics Krysis’s style. The huge manta not so much.
9. Laser moustache - 2006-06-17 – Created for a PJ forum activity where a website would generate ideas for crazy inventions. If you want to know why the moustache has a full black outline followed by a full white outline while most everything else has more sel-out to black, I’m the wrong person to ask.
10. Fonzie/Snader - 2006-07-04 – Created for another PJ forum activity that had a set palette and a theme of snader. So I drew Fonzie. B)
11. Space Apes II sprites- 2006-07-22 – So I was going to do the graphics of this game, but it never really took off (my fault). It was a vertical shmup, so the sprites were supposed to be for a cinematic sequence. You might notice that I used a lot of pure red, green, and blue. You might also notice that the result is eye-burning.
12. The Amazing Screw-On Head - 2006-08-11 – The character is from a comic by Mike Mignola. At the time of creation (more or less), a television cartoon adaptation was being considered by the Sci-Fi Channel, which inspired this drawing. Kinda reminds me of a robot Mike Myers. (Sci-Fi Channel ended up not picking up the show and only a pilot episode was produced)
13. Beartato 64 - 2006-09-01 – Made with C64 mcol restrictions (I think it should be, considering that it was made in a program that only made mcol-restricted pieces). I’m not sure which of the various C64 palettes out there it uses, but I’m tempted to say the Pepto palette. The character is the lovable Beartato created by Nedroid.
14. Daft Punk - 2006-10-28 – The famous French house music duo, in pixels. Try and ignore their awful flat suits.
15. Piggy bank - 2006-11-12 &ndas>*** Description truncated (4000 chars max) *** |
I like the Space Chimps sprites!
