Indeed. You should stay away from pillowing and aim for more convincing shading. Study basic shapes, like spheres, cones, pyramids, cubes, etc. untill you learn to shade correctly. Break down the peice you are trying to shade into these shapes. Study things in nature. Just draw till you get the hang of it. Practice makes perfect.
Hope this helps.
The "Not true" was an introduction to the explanation of time/quality ratio of a peice. Does that make any sense?
Neo, smaller size. Go to about avatar size, 64 pixels by 64 pixels (64x64). And Pillowed means shading from the outside in using layers of color.
How u mean, smaller? Like in format (...X...)??
And what is pillowed? I'm dutch, so I dont understand every word..
Translation sites won't translate pillowed..
Not true =)
All that matters is the effort and attention to detail. It is true that Neo should have given this a little more attention. But it is not true that the amount of time makes the peice better or worse.
Neo, try going smaller next time. Pixel art is very precise and requires a lot of attention.
