A redux of my recent Oculus, which I consider to be substantially different enough (a few hours' worth of difference, anyway) to warrant a separate submission. Same palette, at least two thirds of a heck of a lot smoother (but maybe not a whole heck).
I took all of the comments on the original to heart...but I was particularly inspired by the comments and work of Frost.
And thus, by Jove, do I seem to be exiting my dithering funk.

crazy dithering :) The whole image is really interesting to look at. It kind of has a photorealistic vibe to it, yet you really reinforce techniques central to pixel art
I would like it more if the palette wasn't there though
Ha. I guess it's just the mood in which I found myself this morning. ^_^
Thanks so much for your comments. Several artists' galleries have been helpful, including yours...even if I didn't entirely come through on this piece, I think I'll do better in the future because of what I've learned. Anyway, I'm done looking at this for a long while!
Perhaps next time I should choose a less complex palette...
