This is a splash screen for a boulder dash game for the hiptop sidekick, developed by XXIst century digital boy software. It was a lot of fun to draw, especially the large diamond which was a new challenge for me! Here is an image reference I used for the video: http://www.diamondvues.com/84%20Carat%20Diamond.jpg
I have just watched the video, its great to see how you build that diamond and very learn full!
Watching the character is not learn full for me, because things go so automatically for you :p, you have a character in just 2 seconds of this video! I wish I could do that.
Do you use a tablet for that? Anyway, nice result!
Ah, now that's a useful crit! Thanks! I'm working on a second version right now. Also I am adding a black outline around the elements, I think it will look better over the mobile devices' desktop (the image is to be displayed over the desktop background, next to icons)
Well frank..I think its the over use of dither on the helmet, and the lack of dither on the facial area, especially the cheek.
Now I know you arn't a big fan of AAing in your prior pieces, but I think this one is simple and small enough to give it a shot. Areas like the colored part of the eyeballs really need it, the black clashes with the white to much and really takes away from the detail you did put into this piece, like the diamond. (good job on that part)
For some reason I just don't feel the depth in this one, example: where the characters right eye meets his right cheek bone, it looks so flat, as well as his chin and mouth. I know you worked hard on this, but I think you could really make this one 20x better. Hope thats more descriptive than my last post.
Can you be more specific? I don't see what you mean at all. Its certainly less detailed and has less of a scenery than my usual work, but how does it look raw?
I think you are capable of more than this. It is a good picture, but I just think it looks a little to raw and unfinished. Good job though, the angles of movement are good and could really be a great picture if refined a little more. Sorry if anyone thinks different, your gallery just shows better quality than this to me.
