Ok, I'll take your word for it. Sorry about being a bit harsh. Also if you look at Leel's pic you'll notice it has a bit more contrast, which I think yours is lacking.

I used a scaled down image of my skull mushroom for reference, nicely caught, I should've mentioned that. I did not place the scaled down image inside the eye. I also had this lovely piece for reference: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/28134.htm

I am almost certain you just resized your other image, slightly tweaked it then placed it inside an eye. Thus making this NPA. Comparison(my resized explosion is on the right) - Also: Big version. Note how some of the colours in the explosion are identical.

Please don't think that because you're working with a small canvas that you will be able to get away with just resizing something.

Also I am still not 100% sure that your other icon is hand pixelled. But it doesn't look like any explosion images I can find. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one.
