This started life as my entry for the electric flowers challenge last week, it was going to be roses as components on a circuit board, with the stems being wires soldered onto the PCB and capactiors and stuff in the background with a kind of a dithered glow around the flowers. Pretty cheesy stuff.
Anyway, it got to the weekend and I'd done the roses but I couldn't be bothered with the rest so I just left it and put the leaves on to finish it off tonight.
For reference I just did a google image search for roses.

With the purple on the leaves, when I was working on it I had that same colour as a background so I guess it was less jarring at the time, the whole palette could do with a couple of tweaks now it's got the transparency - definetly the lighter green on the edges of the leaves has lost something when it's against the grey.
I have to disagree with that... I've seen palettes unified and such, but just throwing in the purple from a flower in the green doesn't unify it if it doesn't blend with the green. The contrast is so high that it does the opposite.
I have to disagree with you on that comment about the purple in the leaves. I think it really helps blend the leaves with the flowers, without doing this it wouldn't really look as together as it does now.
