As The B.O.B. said it doesn't look smooth, but I like its angularity. It seems like it could be made of polygons or some other inorganic structure. It's unrealistic but interesting, even surreal.

Nice start. Bear in mind, dithering tends to give a textured feel, and plants have a kinda' smooth touch/feel to them. I'd try and ease on the dithering a bit, or try fading it a bit into each color, rather than using the plain 50/50 dither(checkerboard pattern)...
