1. Remove white background (it is in the rules, you can make it transparent GIF in Irfan).
2. This is better than your previous character.
3. For 3D-effect you should use more contrasting colors - experiment with brightness and you'll see it.
4. Note that with dithering (checkmate placing of pixels) you not just making transition between colors - you create texture. This devil feels like a sofa.
