I wasn't quite sure what was meant by rework, but I interpreted it as seeing how I would draw one of my old drawings today. I picked something I drew six years ago, and it ended up evolving quite a bit away from the original.

I wasn't happy with how harmless he looked, so I gave him bigger teeth, picked a more interesting pose and really tried to get the anatomy right, which I think I learned a lot from. I also ended up changing the palette quite a bit. I tried to not use any dithering for once, since the shading in the original is pretty clean.

The anatomy still needs work in places, and I still have a color to spare that I might make use of later.

Big thanks to ptoing and Womped and everyone who helped me with this at Pixelation.

Edit: Increased saturation on skin tones to compensate for the green AA, toned down parts to make it less cluttered and added another skin shade.

sharprm - Thanks for the edit. I agree to some extent. I wanted him to look tired, but still mentally ready for a fight, so it should be something in between. As far as genitalia goes, I thought something less exposed would be better for such a creature, like that of a dog's. Though now that I think about it, that doesn't really make sense for a bipedal creature.

This is awesome but I agree with skamocore something is not quite right. I think I know what it could be (maybe already said on pixelation...) - the pose is fearful (like that wimp Gollum) but the face is all nasty. I know he would want to avoid arrows but I think he needs to be more intimidating (by occupying more space).

This is incredible!
Lovely colors and the green/red-mix tend to be a bit of a pain for the eyes, but not in this piece.
And it's so far from the concept yet all nice and stuff :o

Generelly I like how all muscles look, yep still needs work in places, but as entire work and idea look at great and wish you success in weekly challenge !

wow...this is a huge departure from your trademark uber-dithered-awesomeness.

Aside from that there's still something about this which doesn't seem quite right...maybe it's the composition - he just seems to take up the entire canvas, he could possibly use some more breathing space.
Also what's with the blood in the shadow, it looks like it has been AAd to a lighter background.

Anyway, great job - I especially like the way you've done the ground.
