Holy crap that's smooth. I echo the lawrence sentiments and I think the piece turned out great overall. Although excuses will always be excuses, I do think the lack of background imagery and distorted perspective can be backed up by the fact that when facing your fear you do lose focus and tend to become sick and distorted as you freeze up. I think the colors and style of the pic accomplishes this because as much as I try to examine the wonderful smooth bits around the spider I can't help but have my eyes messed with and drawn back to the center.
The angle of the buildings doesn't seem to match that of the spider, and the right side of the image has too much empty space. I think the large palette might've prompted you to use more colors in some areas than necessary, making them less crisp than they should be. All in all it's a great piece, and I'm betting it'll hit weekly showcase, assuming the preview image isn't too inconspicuous.

Oh mang, when I saw this, I thought it was Lawrence's work. Surprise, surprise, Setzer with the smooth dithering. Great job Setz, I'm sure this will put you atop as a contender for the competition.
