Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII. I know what you're thinking, its got a lot of pillow shading... but im a bit of a novice at this, so until I find different techniques, this style suits me fine :P

Yeah, the face is always the first thing I work on and spent quite alot of time on. After that it's kind of a drag trying to finish pieces like this. Its not an excuse for pillowshading... but I've never tried any other way. Also, Ive always done smaller pieces of pixelart, so im not really used to shading large areas.
Pillowshading isn't a style, it's an improper technique. And it's obvious that pillowshading is what's holding you back the most, so if you want to improve it'd be vital to confront the issue rather than dismiss it as "I'm a novice". It's clear you've got the skill, so pick a lightsource, shade accordingly, and cut down on that color count.
The face is really good but other than that it's somewhat lame. The shoes are too big and the way she's sitting isn't too great. Then there's also a white pixel next to that shoulder thing.
I don't like this one as much as your other works...
