And here is the final Robot Master with color changing action!
Galaxy Man constantly switches colors in Mega Man 9 and I applied the ones I could notice here. I ordered them according to the RGB color matrix for a smooth transition, although I can't guarantee that's the same order in the game. Without this gimmick, Galaxy Man's design is actually very lacking in color, to the point I applied more tones of shading than I did in the other sprites. This sprite still uses less than 16 colors without the rainbow effect.
Speaking of design... to me, Galaxy Man is for Astro Man what Plug Man is for Dynamo Man. The "UFO" look is quite weird, although it's appropriate and he would look very vanilla without it. This also gives Galaxy Man a funny quirk: the ability to change his form into a saucer, in true Transformers fashion.
Many thanks to everyone who commented and added the Robot Masters to their favorites. I took all the critique in consideration and revised the sprites of all previous Robot Masters. I believe Tornado Man is the one which had the most improvement.
Although I have my reservations about the retro approach of Mega Man 9, the game is faithful to the elements that made Mega Man so popular in the old days. It's also great that Capcom breathed new life into the original Mega Man series beyond side stories and remakes. Who knows what the future has in store for the Blue Bomber? |
Oh man... Really nice!
And now we know what's in store for the Blue Bomber...
