Thought i'd go a bit abstract for this competition, Its in the same style as Chuck Close, but smaller and more pixely.

Im very pleased with how it turned out.

I used this apple and pear as a reference :)  http://grail.cs.washington.edu/projects/watercolor/slides.html

Very nicely done indeed with a great concept.

I'm not too sure if you used a reference for this, but I found one that looks very similar. If you did use this as a reference, then remember that whenever you use a reference picture, you should always post it. :$

....and so you should be pleased at how well this turned out! Nice palette and the style makes the piece look like it has more than the 14 colours.

Excellent work:)

user
Blackbeltdude (Level 7 Ichikyu) @ 11/5/2008 12:59
Man, as soon as I saw that preview, Chuck Close's style is the first thing I associated it with.

I think the apple's shape is shown really well, but I think the pear kind of looks like a football. :P

The area between the fruit (the shadowy area) is also kind of muddled.

But the color usage, and style emulation is done really exceptionally. :)

user
withalligators (Level 4 Deputy) @ 11/5/2008 12:53
Fantastic.  Extraordinary.  Although to me it looks more like a heart and liver than some fruit.

user
The B.O.B. (Level 11 Master Assassin) @ 11/5/2008 12:51
Ya' know, I've waited years for someone to finally do some Chuck Close styled pixel art, and until now, I've never seen it done properly. Great job!

user
cure (Level 11 Godfather) @ 11/5/2008 12:46
you've captured Chuck's style really well, it was the first thing I thought of when I saw this.  Love how you took advantage of the palette and the image as a whole.  Great work.

user
banane4joy (Level 5 Detective) @ 11/5/2008 11:54
This is briliant mozaic style!
