I don't find the differing attitudes funny, this is a community with varied opinions, some people might like the style, different individuals may not.  I can understand the other opinions, but I personally see it as lazy.  Forgive me if I'm being offensive, it isn't my intent.  Working with impromptu shapes isn't a bad idea, I just think you could've worked with them more, so that they retain the same loose form but mesh better with the rest.

sg, I saw this as purposeful when I first saw it, and I like it, though I do not think it is wonderful, just nice.  Also, the light blue shadow doesn't seem to work.

Also, I find it funny how my skull was loved for it's 'cartoony shape' and this is criticized. Meh.

It's the right side of a snes controller. And i chalanged myself to make sloppy shapes and work with them. Personal preference =)

You should try to improve your shapes, you still have time. And it doesn't look like a controller at all, you could try drawing the whole thing
