Seurat is far, far more than that, historically, technically, theoretically and perhaps even philosophically, but that doesn't mean THIS piece is. Basic visual similarity does not make you Seurat any more than a pair of Tina Fey glasses make you a comedian, and that's precisely the distinction between "art' and "image" that I and trying to get across.
I'm sorry, but I have the same problems with your abstract stuff. Abstract art is not just distorting an image. This is a pretty moot piece composition wise for example. What does the abstraction add to this piece?
the problem i have with well, all of your pieces, is that the point of abstraction can be many things, but seldom is it "lets just make it hard to see and call it art," which is the way these all do. Not only is it not founded in artistic ideas, which can be foregone in the case of brilliance, but it doesn't actually bring anything to the table. I'd be hesitant to believe that these pieces are anything more than just mechanically distorting an otherwise mediocre representation and I think that's a shame.
My two bits, and they might seem harsh but they've been coming since late summer and include far more than this piece here.
I would like to see what this image looks like when the cherry is a little more separated from the background, I love the impressionism though, good use of the colors.
