Toxic Sonic: Notre Dame and Pont Neuf :: Pixel Art Detail

I love the lightning on the Notre Dame. The only thing I find a bit awkward in this piece is the perspective of the bench, but otherwise this is awesome!

Thanks for the comments so far, everybody! ptoing, good point about the background buildings; I might see what I can do to change that and still keep to my 16-color palette. JamesB, I see what you mean; I've actually been going for a theme where stuff in the background is pretty detailed and realistic and stuff in the foreground is more blocky and cartoony; it's worked in most places but maybe not so much with the water. I'll see what I can do. jalonso, your cathedral is amazing; jeez! I agree with you about the distinctive France-ness of flying buttresses, and of course Notre Dame does have them, but unfortunately they're not visible while you're crossing Pont Neuf! I've had several geographical headaches so far with this game and I'm sure this won't be the last of them... Thanks again everybody.

Its very cool as it is, but something you could add to break the sky up is some flying buttresses.
When I made my Gothic Level I found the were crucial to saying 'Paris' to non Eorupeans, (they are those wings on the side of the buildings, duh)

Gorgeous. great detail on the building. The water looks kinda out of place IMO. It seems very static in an otherwise organic piece. But otherwise, fantastic work.

Nice. Very recognisable as well :) One thing I don't like is the background and the dark grey silhouettes against the red looks odd. Other than that it's tops.

oh ! I love the stylisation of the cathedral and that adaptation off the pont neuf for your game is fun !
