much better, this megaman is much more original looking as well :D I would have to of agreed with the comments earlier, the old one looked dangerously similar, but you were dealing with 8-bit and a lot of sprites look similar at those restriction. Even so their are limits, I'm sure you didn't intend to copy it so closely but thats the way it turned out.

I don't buy it at all. I can believe that you pixelled this by hand... by looking at the original spirte and copying (really how difficult is it? not at all). I can't believe that any potential employer you would show this to would be convinced of it. It looks like the original Mega Man. That's the problem. I don't care about whether it matches up pixel for pixel. This is not the case. The case is that PixelJoint is telling you they cannot allow this on their site. This goes for any and all copyrighted art. You have creative commons rights against your own original art, but to copy someone elses so closely without any regard is simply ludicrus. The fact that you simply do not understand this concept bothers me.
I compared them side by side as well. It doesn't "prove" anything. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just saying that, in my opinion, the two sprites are too similar. I "treat all of my members" equally. If they submit work that is profoundly similar to existing work, then it is called into question. This isn't a witch hunt. Don't take it so personally.
As you can clearly see, this is a custom, I'll do this for the health bar if I have to. (Which does not even have the same pallete as the original)
What probably throws you off is the eyes, but every human Mega Man Character has those eyes. Of course, the colors are of Mega Man, again, to remain in style. The line art is, in fact, completely custom, but I was trying to be anatomically correct and keeping with the size limits for an NES sprite. The pose is the same basic pose, because, well, from an artistic standpoint, I wanted that pose. I still do.
I know it seems like I'm making a big deal out of this, but I'm going out of my way to prove this because I know it will help me in the long run, so that situations like these don't occur and so I don't have any artistic limits placed just because you don't trust me through words. I've been spriting for 5 years, I'm very serious about it, and I would never do anything to jeopardize the quality of my work by using cheaply-made recolors or edits, which I have not made for several years.
I understand your first concern, but now this is out of hand, I've earned some sort of respect and if this is how you treat all your members, maybe I should take my business elsewhere, and I'm not asking for much. It doesn't matter if it "looks like" or if it "could be mistaken is", the only thing that matters is that "it isn't".
As you can see, if I went this far to prove my point over a tiny little sprite, I mean it when I say its completely custom.
Can you please remove Megaman and the health bar. Feel free to post a link to the image with Megaman and the health bar added in, but please leave them out of your submitted version.
