Yeah - when saving gif in Irfan there will be a field to check - 'Save transparent color'. Then you have to click on a field featuring this color and all pixels of this color will be transparent when viewed in browser. So when drawing pics which will feature transparency, use that color for background which is not used in foreground (not transparent) image.

Ok, I'll try. So I have to save it as a GIF for it to have a transparent background?

Pretty christmas tree! Welcome to Pixel Joint.

Now you may want:

1. Eliminate white background by making it transparent GIF (note that when clicking at 'Submit' button there is a list of guidelines, and useless white BG is the thing to get rid of to get into gallery). You can use http://www.irfanview.net/, for example.

2. Get rid of corners under the star or somehow change this area - it will look better.
