The opening picture of a CD32 game 'Tales from heaven'. I did it on my Amiga 1200 some years ago with Deluxe Paint and Personal Paint.

Seems like he's Clause from Mother.
It's Tales from heaven, Claus is also dead.
:P

This is still pretty awesome.

I don't like the colors or the texture, but good job anyway

To me this is a bit of a stretch. I've seen full digital paintings with filters and lens flares that look crisper than this. Everything is so blurry that there is almost no pixel detail. While I'm not going to debate wether or not this is to be considered pixel art, I'm definately going to call this very bad pixel art. Sorry.

It's a lovely picture though :)

It's nice, but I might be one of the puritans iLKke is talking about :)

I prefer every pixel hand pixeled, but hey, it's nice anyway. Now make some new stuff so you're not one of those demoscene artists who only show old stuff!

Hi Zaac, good to see you here! That's a cool pic, you managed to turn a cute subject into something slightly creepy, probably because of the perspective and the colours you chose :)

Oh hey Zaac, nice to see you hear. I actually bought that game back then and even if the controls were kinda jerky, I had quite some fun with it. Always loved that title screen. Very nice.

Oh I remember this one, very nice!

It is a bit too muddy for the puritans here at PJ (especially the background), but I personally have no problem with any of the tools that DPaint has to offer. Apart from muddiness, only crit is that AA shifts form very coarse to very smooth.

I like his tyle to but I'm not sure they really draw pixel art.

dogmeat is right! There are sparkles in the original one:

Good eyes! :D I get the picture I uploaded from another website some times ago, I was not thinking they processed it. But it looks like they slightly changed the value of the colors and they mixed the palette.

tomic: thanks!
pixelblink: technically this picture is a mix between two dithering styles, the use of small round bunches of pixels (on the shoe, on some parts of the face, on the hair) rather popular in the amiga demoscene in the late 90's (Made, Exocet...) and a more basic and traditional way. Actually I don't remember why I choosed to use a 256 colors palette, I guess it was a more comfortable.

404 dude.

Also, I want everyone to be clear that this is not meant to be some sort of 'witch hunt' or whatever.

It's not that, tomic, it's when the colour count is in the triple digits that I don't believe the technique... and technique seems to be everything here. Example, this piece contains 206 colours. At first look, it doesn't even look like pixel art whcih brings me to the question: why do pixel art that doesn't look like pixel art? Could the piece be done if you only had 16 colours? Would you be as satisfied labeling it as a cg painting rather tan pixel art? questions you need to ask yourself to continue here I think, otherwise you're wasting your own time.

zaac! finally!

great piece (looking forward to have more of 'em in here, especially the woody-piece =).

still you should be warned: you may have problems getting most of your pictures into the gallery due to the whole index painting thing - the usual burden you have at pixeljoint if you were somehow connected to the amiga demoscene in the past.. some ppl here believe ms paint to be THE pixeling-tool =)
