What a great idea! This is a clever design. The skeleton implies that this Key of Life is also, in fact, a skeleton key. This further implies that life can expand and grow in any direction that the holder may so choose.
VERY nice! 8D
As for the sprite work itself: The shading is good, but in places it causes the key to look a bit lumpy or flat, and overall the grip or head of the key looks like it's been crushed under the wheel of an oncoming locomotive. The narrower part of the key looks good, but under textured, and plastic. I feel like I could reach out and snap it off with very little effort. The skeleton half is very much the focus of this image, but because it's near the top of the image file it creates an odd focal point. I think if you'd left negative space near the top, or perhaps added in a shadow or background, you could help that a lot. The skeleton itself appears to be made of flattened metal, which is probably what you were going for in which case good job, amigo, but I think the outline could use some work in the way of lighting rather than being flat shadow.
Nice work regardless, I'm favoriting this piece, and I hope to see more from you very soon. : )
