Garish colours.

Mr metal here had learnt allot it seems, although the background doesn't do your hard work justice.
But what you've said in advice is absolutely correct, those are the basics, and is something everybody should know if they want to make a head!!
Now to fix my avatar up..

Simply just have fun with it and if you get stuck with it go to the W.I.P forums and ask their for some help.

Also remeber some simple anatomy (Which I forget alot):

•  Eye in the center of the faces
• Nose half way down from the chin and eyes
• Mouth half way down from nose and chin
• The bottom of the ears start at the bottom of the nose.
