Done in C64 palette for this weeks clown challenge, thought i'd have a go. Bin working on it since midweek, first time using this palette so had to be a bit creative with the dithering to show certain details.
Yeah so the jist is, scary ass clown knocks on 'your' door at the early hours of the morning.
Shading has always been my downfall in every piece I attempt. From what I see here with the palette and dithering, I'm afraid I still have so much to learn.
P.S. You scared the #@*! out of my wife. She hates clowns.
A well deserved win Terley :) Not too colorful, but the clown is perfect, its expression and style meets the target group, and you have shown excellent use of the full c64 palette!
well, it's not the fullest usage of the C64 palette.. It is really REALLY effective use of colors, though :) Reminds me of EGA pictures except with far less eye-hurting colors :)
oh thx for the comments :) really enjoyed the challenge, just hope I get somewhere in the top 3 never had a prize before , I know there's usually some late entries will most likely kick this outta the water but can still hope.
My favourite so far, and really hard to top. I always love it when someone takes a palette challenge and makes the art look like had no restrictions, and that's exactly what you've done here. the dithering also works really well in creating the pastime atmosphere you've got going with the house style and buggy. The thickish black lines on the character just add a funky wonderful touch as well. All around top-notch performance!
