C64 DTV format. Those joysticks with game in them. They have a 256 colour mode which I used here. 320x200 + some border, yadda yadda.

Since it has a fixed 256 colour palette I did not really limit my use of those.

Ich liebe deinen Style.:<

Mathias (Level 2 Kukyu) at 3/5/2009 12:31:35 PM

I love what you do with simple forms.

Why does ptoing have to cater to a certain style? It's unwise to confine yourself to one style. True, there's something to be said for developing a unique identity as an artist, but to limit yourself is a detriment. Art is about exploration, not tunnel vision living in a vacuum.

iLKke (Level 8 Cannibal) at 3/2/2009 2:53:46 AM

Nice, though not quite the pinnacle of ptoing endeavour. :)

I understand that the predefined palette is a tricky one, but my main crit is that bg hues are too similar to the head. Also, the AA on the speech bubble's 'tail' is a bit overdone and wobbly, while AA inside the mouth is not smooth enough.

Lollige (Level 11 Psychopath) at 3/2/2009 1:42:31 AM

That text baloon is extremely smooth!

256 colors, and still you need to dither-aa ;). Oh well, it was a fixed palette I see.

Nice work!

Pico (Level 3 Hatchet Man) at 3/2/2009 12:07:03 AM

I think he reminds me of a shoe.

.Anubis. (Level 3 Hatchet Man) at 3/1/2009 9:15:56 PM

Not bad, speaker got me, a lot more than I expected.

DJD (Level 4 Button Man) at 3/1/2009 9:10:43 PM

In recent times you have gone from one of my favourite artists to my favourite artist. This pretty much solidifies that statement. Great work, keep being funky.

edit: so as to not make this a total circlejerk, the one that irks me is the pinky mouth to blue transition. I feel like it needs another shade...the transition seems too jarring to me considering the other smooth color transitions.

Doppleganger (Level 5 Rokkyu) at 3/1/2009 2:04:51 PM

That looks really nice to me. I agree that the aa is week in some places, most notably the balloon that the speaker icon is in. And that, most notably along the top and on the tail.

Even so, it's still great. You've got a masterful style that rarely goes unnoticed in any piece you do. This one not being an exception carries its own weight very well.

ptoing (Level 7 Underboss) at 3/1/2009 9:08:17 AM

Hah, I made an edit, must have somehow added one more colour. :D

Nah, nix global economy, das sind alles nur sachen die ich schon ewig rumliegen hab und jetzt fertig mach
(also ausser dem Henker jetzt, aber das hier und der Roboter halt)

tomic (Level 11 CEO) at 3/1/2009 8:54:17 AM

beautifull piece again, the aa with its ample 78 colors (yepp, me and my proper software count 78 colors =) make it look much smoother than most of your pieces, still there are enough 45 degree angles to look enjoyable ptoingish.

nice stuff that you've been flooding the gallery with recently. global economy oder was? ;D

ptoing (Level 7 Underboss) at 3/1/2009 5:22:37 AM

Cheers for the comments :)

Dr D: Yes, I used 77 colours and there are 256 in the palette. If you save the image to your HD and then open it in something that has proper palette support you'll see it :)

skooba-dude (Level 8 Regional Boss) at 3/1/2009 12:57:28 AM

woah! stylish peice.

Dr D (Level 2 Kukyu) at 2/28/2009 8:03:42 PM

I read the description. =/ I know you didn't limit yourself in using/picking colors, I just don't see them. It looks like a lot less honestly, and that's good, so I'm not  complaining..

You know I always wondered, when people put the amount of colors in there, does it mean how many different colors were used in the piece? Or how many different colors were in their pallete that they used for the piece?

I believe I've seen examples of both, and yours would be the former, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

B_j0k3r0 (Level 1 Private) at 2/28/2009 4:54:59 PM

All that bothers me is that you could dither the round top of the nose like u dithered the rest.. would be great that way, nicely done :)

ptoing (Level 7 Underboss) at 2/28/2009 4:30:58 PM

Made some edits to the aa, you might have to reload the image to see it

Dex (Level 11 Psychopath) at 2/28/2009 4:06:02 PM

I've been trying a style like this recently...you're such an inspiration...!

Great work, ptoing! Quite the awesome stuff you've been pumping out recently. :)

ptoing (Level 7 Underboss) at 2/28/2009 3:58:20 PM

Dr D: Read the description, maybe?

Panda: It's not that old (late 2007), I just finished it today. I agree the aa is weak in parts. I might tough up a bit. Tho it is quite hard to aa between certain colours with the fixed palette.

Panda (Level 3 Stalker) at 2/28/2009 3:54:57 PM

Is this some old version from a few years ago, or did you retouch it?

I find it a tad weak. Bullshit bits of AA here and there, too much in some others, and things you could fix overall!

Not bad, but could be better.

Saporion (Level 2 Dealer) at 2/28/2009 3:31:05 PM

The loudspeaker symbol looks really smooth, nice. (:

Badassbill (Level 9 Necrophiliac) at 2/28/2009 3:10:15 PM

Are you trying to see how much epic shit you can submit in a single month or something? Damn.

Dr D (Level 2 Kukyu) at 2/28/2009 2:59:30 PM

77 colors? I don't even see half that many. =S Unless you used new ones just for AA.

But nevertheless, it's a really great piece.

Riboflavin (Level 1 Thug) at 2/28/2009 1:40:53 PM

Looks awesome!  I really admire your style.

Reo (Level 11 Sensei) at 2/28/2009 1:39:06 PM

Wonderful Ptoing!

I could even tell that it was your's from the preview.
