Thanks Stickman.
A face in the apple was not intended (admittedly, I can't see it).
That's quite a sad story man...
Really well executed as well as amazed at how much information you were able to put into this piece. The beginning part where he's raising his arrow is my favourite.
Great story:)
Also, I notice that the apple in the end shot looks like a face in anguish. Was that intentional, or am I reading into it too much?
Thank you guys.
skamocore, DrD: The worm is an element of the story that I had not originally planned at all. In the first draft there was no worm, the two middle panels in the last row were one and it was a mystery to the viewer why the archer did not hit the apple. The idea with the worm came to me later while I was working on the third panel in the second row. To answer the question where the worm is in the last panel: That has to stay one of lifes little mysteries. :)
Showing the worm there, smiling would transport a wrong message, as the worm does not do what it does from sinister or evil motivation, it is merely concerned about saving its own life.
You know, I didn't even notice the worm until I read skamocore's post. I simply thought the archer missed. Maybe you could make him stick out a bit more, but it's probably also just me. Especially now that I see the worm's role in this, I have to say it's a great idea and an excellent execution. =]
By the way where IS the worm on the last panel? All I see is a hole and stem on the apple.
If there was one word and you used some kind of time machine to submit this last week, I would've voted for you :D
The only thing I think you could've changed is the last panel. In the last panel the worm seems so insignificant and uninportant, which is the opposite of what the other panels seem to say. Maybe the last panel could show the worm continuing to smile and show him a bit more close up and more towards the middle of the panel to show his importance.
Anyway, regardless this is awesome. If there's another comic challenge it would be great to see you enter. =)
Funny and so beautiful!
