The point should mostly be to choose colors with precision so that you use the least amount possible to get what you need to fulfill your vision. Sometimes it takes dithering or other pixelart coloring techniques.
Color abuse and overuse in pixelart defeats the purpose.
This turned out to be an experiment, so I want to keep it the way it is, but I understand what you mean :) I won't over-use it, that's for sure, it's very tiresome to dot in pixels like that, and it looks weird zoomed in :p.
It's a great 'idea', but I wouldn't really use it unless you have to, or it really just seems to be the best thing to do.
In this piece for example, I think you could have easily went without it.
But I suppose it's a matter of style and taste.
: D The key to great pixelart? Cool, I'll propably use it more then^^
The piece is pretty good, but I'd suggest changing the preview. Being zoomed in so close just makes it look like a jumble of colors.
This 'idea' of yours (color conservation) is the key to great pixelart.
Thanks for the feedback, I'm just starting seriously with pixels, so I'm glad to see there are so many skilled teachers here at pixeljoint^^
