his arms and legs get lost on this background + weird aa on the right side of his upper lip. I don't like sponge bob but this is a sweet pixel art.
I don't mean they or you did a bad job or anything, but the character just gets under my skin somehow. :/ I find it totally disgusting and I really rarely get disgusted of anything :<
Aah, you take it too seriously. really, you don't like Spongebob? Pshaw! That's no fun. Try watching it in a difffernt language, Korean is particularly humorous.
Don't forget, licensed characters are bread and butter for many working artists. Without the ability to draw to specification and get it right every time, you don't really have a marketable skill.
I HATE Sponge Bob. It sickens me to see him and it sickens me none the less to see him in pixel art, so I won't even try to crit it. Sorry :s
Oh god. I've done art for a SB mobile game before, and license holders can be very unimaginative. In one part of the game, SB moves in little steps (determined by the player), so I made him hop (non-looped) to demonstrate the movement input. They were concerned because in the reference episode, SB doesn't hop. They wanted a walk instead. Now in the final game, he walks in these stuttered half steps, because the input doesn't call for a looped animation. Retarded. Also, they were very concerned because they couldn't count the "dots" on him at the smallest resolution (128). Despite very limited JAR space, I had to make "dot" modules, since the dot layout isn't symmetrical. I would be very surprised if the player noticed or cared if it wasn't canon.
