Wow, this is pretty sweet... makes me want to get a C64! Great job!
I'll probably change the red to the 'gold' I use in KnG later on. On a real machine the red isn't a problem though, apart from being wide-pixel fonts which are always hard to read.
Just threw the third mockup in there, it isn't complete. On the other hand when the huge organic boss gets in to that picture you won't notice if the background is dull...
Looks like I will have to change the bkg colors every 24th line instead of every 16th as well, takes up too much precious cpu time. So the mockups have to be completely redrawn (except for the middle one, which looks like it can be kept as is).
I find the reddish version of the font very hard to read too. Anyways the top and middle backdrops look great. The third one's really dull though.
Saddens me how good pixels like this go unnoticed anymore...anyway, I fav'd it earlier, forgot to tell you how nice I think it is.
Yes, the color and the looks will change between levels. Depending on the abilities of the suit weared.
The idea is that you transfer your mind between different robot bodies. It will be a metroidvania type of game.
