The lines are pretty jagged, and I think you used too many colors for something this simple. Chikorita has one green for the body, white claws, and another green for the leaf and the things on the neck. I think you could have pretty much the same thing with 16 colors or something.
But this is good for a first piece. Keep it up.

You got some nice things going for you, but as has already been said, you need to refine the lines more. It looks like you just drew freehand, which is okay, but before you move on to the next step, you should make sure that all lines and curves don't have any "bumps".
You do this by changing a few pixels. Then lean back. Is it perfectly round now? No? THAT pixel needs to be moved 1 up. Is it perfectly round now? No? Those pixels need to... etc...
Keep it up, we were all beginners once 
Despite the AA, there's still alot of jaggies. You could also refine the lines more, esp. around the head.
