Great work! The one on the right reads very clearly. I like the background, too, it's low contrast so it doesn't interfere with the sprite.

I'd actually recommend removing the background. The sprite is awesome on its own, and the background is a little distracting.

Did I mention that the sprite is in fact, super awesome?

You must precise that the background is not from you but tiles from RPGMaker XP. Otherwise it's good.
