The gasfly lives in the upper atmosphere, and subsists upon plants it collects in the troposphere. It achieves flight by collecting gasses produced by the digestion process. The males can be destinguished by their cyan bellies and darker body color, while the females are more pale and have folds in their backs for storing food, eggs, and larvae.
