This is a very fun picture, and I like it a lot!
Still a bit fast ... doesn't Richard give you the correct timing with the "6's"? Technically i don't think the other leg should be shaded for all frames but then again i guess it makes things clear. Good anim and there's been significant work done on your side of things. Unfortunately still some work to go on the head movement, you should make sure the rolling is symmetrical. Also the movement itself doesn't follow a nice curve (as in Richard) but maybe slowing the anim down will help.
sharprm, you make an awfull lot of good points:
About the speed: I tried to slow the frame rate a bit when the anim was finished, but as my eye was used to see it at the speed I worked with, it felt weird somehow. But you're right, I think I'll slow it down a bit to emphathize the weight.
About dithering : you're right, it was silly of me to try to dither as after having done so, it didn't seem to make any difference when seing it animated, that's why I only dithered the first two frames. I'll re-upload an undithered version.
About giving more credits : you're absolutely right, I'll take a picture of the "obese run cycle" and add it to the description, as much of the weight of the cycle comes from its drawings. I don't want to take credits that don't belong to me.
I'll rework on the other points you mentionned as well as the point made by stickman.
Thanks all for the comments, really apreciated. Apologies for my erratic english.
He could have used more colors, he could have used less colors. Is less supposed to be inherently better?
Methinks this anim is supposed to play slower. I 'm judging that speed being too fast based on how the bend and squash is happening.
Dithering on some frames seems silly. I personally wouldn't use dither on animation.
This is fantastic, by the way, but maybe Richard deserves much of the credit, scan the reference would be good ...
Frame 7 for head relative to frame 6 the head should go back and to his right, shouldn't it? It doesn't look like that. Frame 4 the width of the arm is too small.
Maaaannn..that is just freaky.
Good......
but freaky....
When the head snaps back - it feels a little bit too much of jump. I really like the weight of the run.
Man, this is great. Very smooth. Maybe you could have used less colors (since elephants are only gray and white you shouldnt need more than 6-8). But really cool anyway.
Now i can see what's going on.
Maybe you should smoothen out the frames a bit?
XD Fantastic! I think this is the best elephant animation I've ever seen :3
