So after several weeks I at least could give this a first try. Kept me busy, yesterday and today (well a few hours altogether). This is for a game project which is postponed right now. If it will be continued I will add a whole lot more tiles. There are right now 4 (huge 64x64) tiles. I can't see this right any more but if you got any helpful tips go ahead rip it apart. I find this a bit boring so I will maybe do a completely different atemp at this... oh well enought I'm out into the sun!

That is very lovely, I am planning to make a video game too and have begun the tiles and GFX, perhaps you'd like to help? They are 16x16, however, so your 64x64 can go further :-)
Sedge: I can very much understand your difficulty with that. I would say it's this terrible black that is so difficult to handle. After I learned to avoid thos terrible black outlines I had great reluctance to use black at all. But only a minute after glancing at henk nieborgs pixels I changed my mind. Quickly. I also learned a lot about colors from his work (and I'm still learning of ourse). Uh well that said I'm not very happy with these tiles...
You really pull off stark contrast brilliantly in your bgs. I find that when I try to use extreme contrast like that it comes off as being too overpowering but you make it work.
