Amazing detail on the face. The helmet is really thin, reminds me of tin can thickness and certainly wouldn't stop a bullet :D

I would also like to point out that the image is done in Amiga lo-res resolution (320*256) with an aspect ratio of 5:4 wich differs a bit from VGA-resolutions wich have a aspect ratio of 4:3 so the picture is not displayed in the correct aspect ratio in VGA-resolutions.

"scene", in this case, is short for "demoscene" and the title is kind of a tribute to the game Moonstone. Duting loading there is some short texts to set the mood in the game. "The gods pause for a moment to contemplate your fate..." is one of the texts.

Sure there might be some issues but this is really good!  I love it when, before reading the description, an image makes me start thinking of a story... and this really accomplishes that.

... why stick a title explaining what the piece is supposed to be?

I think it boxes you in. You have draw a manly hand but the face appears feminine to me (eg. nose curled up, smooth cheeks etc.). If you didn't say in the title, I would think it was a girl and think it is okay. Pauses for a moment? You only show a snapshot, how do we know if it is for a moment or an hour?

Methinks you should get rid of the title, make some helicopters in the backdrop flying towards the smoker like in Tropic of Thunder at the start. Let the viewer think its a guy or girl about to spin round and start shooting their gun but can spend a microsecond savoring the cigaratte like in the Lord of the Rings first movie at the end with Viggo and the Orcs. You're not anxious about death as long as you know you will go out with great hair.

Also make the arm longer, no-one likes stumpy mini me-s. Double check the head would fit in the helmet and the helmet is symmetrical.
