Thnx :D
I'm thinking about re-making it :P
because this one is kinda old and it's traced :/
now that I know what traced is .. I wanna make a new one XD
And I think I got alot better sence then ^^"
I think it is a beautiful piece. I also agree that you should create an original character of your own. I like the weapon best and perhaps just a lil more contrast with the hair. All and all great work!
best thing whith this pic is his cape :O
i rly like the shading on it
The original has depth. No defined light source fatally wounds your version.
Tracing, as you just found out is very looked down upon around here. This is your personal pixel art gallery, everything is assumed to be original. I'd call this peice practice and take it down.
Despite all, Your shading isn't bad, just remember your light and shadow next time.
is this so wrong? because i didn't know and i worked on it alot...:(
Why is your pic almost the same as the reference picture? :x
Tracing something means that you make the lineart using the ref as a guide, and you make it exactly the same way. I'm sure you didn't copy that by eye, that's tracing.
But you made this piece, wouldn't you know if you traced it?
and what do you mean trace?...
10 minuts after...
I've checked it and....I think you're right...it is almost the same....
thnkx
but i still don't get it....alot of peapole liked it but no one added it to he's favorits.. :P
manjaman-srry but i have no idea what you're talking about....
i also think its traced, im pretty sure its against the rules..... -_-... anyways....the shading is quite good but needs a lot more contrast since its not quite readable on the white and blue parts of the armor...
Sorry but, where is the interest to reproduce this character in pixel art ? Your shading is good, everything's very clean, but you don't bring any improvement to the first version, which is much more accomplished. You should create your own character, even if you're a bit influenced by this type of pictures. See what I want to say ?
Did you just trace this one?
[edit]: I compared to two images, you did indeed trace this one. I am not sure if this is against the rules though.
The dithering looks very good on "flat" steel surfaces, but I'm not convinced by its use on the white and black areas, and on the cape.
that's a huge improvement ! NICE work! Actually, I really like it.
EDIT: Oh, now that I've seen the reference, it's like bleh, but it is still nice tho.
I see tracing and using reference photos absolutely acceptable as long as the reference is given, the goal might be to refine or practice color use or texturing on a piece where the layout or composition is already set. It is a great way for newer artists to refine their skills and learn what works and what doesn't in a specific medium.
In this case it is a very good translation from the original piece, I especially like how the cape turned out, great job!
