Nice character!
As people said , the colors lack contrast.
you could have much darker values (the trousers could go to black in the darkest areas) and have brighter color (go to white on the reflection of the glasses and the specular on the belt for instance :)
Sorry, Roller, I learned anatomy from old books, long before the internet - and costume design styles are all probably still inspired from the comics of me youth (jazzed up by things like Nomura Tetsuya if I'm being honest).
Leonardo da Vinci makes the most beautiful line drawings of anatomical subjects - if you can find pictures of his sketches then that'll be something worth studying. Wikipedia has articles on anatomy - make line drawings of every muscle group, and learn their names - it makes you feel a lot smarter, too! And there's little more creative costuming than in anime, of course, but drawing real clothing is fun too. Try making up costumes that nuke punks would wear in a Mad Max movie, if it were art designed by Kishimoto Masashi!
And thanks for the compliments!
Sorry, Photo! I'll admit that I, too, still prefer the sketch, and because I've never made a pixel piece like this before I quite simply don't have the skill yet to do it 'justice'. If there are any specific parts about it that you like and dislike, can I trouble you to pass them along to me? Thanks!
I really like the clothes and the shading on it, + nice anatomy :) any particular site where i could study?
the sketch was cool but the shading really lets this peice down.
Thank you, Roller, I really appreciate the good words! Maybe he'll go in a game with a pastel colour scheme, eh? Anything particular about the design you like, or would like to see more of?
Thank you for the compliment, Angel! Yeah, I was having a hard time picking just the right saturation - higher values made him seem to glow in the dark! But I learned a lot from this piece, so I promise to do better in the future!
I really like the characters but the colors are making him look washed out like angel of the great said
The colors make him look washed out. D:
But very nice nonetheless! :D
Thanks, Kakikukeko. I was actually purposely avoiding true white and true black to push myself to learn hue shifting (white and black are my habitual hue extremes). But if you think this is actually going to cause harm, I can try to be a little more relaxed about using them in the future. And I love your stuff, so I'm going to seriously consider any advice you don't mind proffering.
