It's cool. Definitely looks more like Spectrum stuff rather than either CPC or C64. The CPC didn't have the 2 colors per 8x8 problem of other 8 bit computers. You could put your colors wherever you liked on it.
Okay, now I see what you mean. I'll try it out and see which result works best. Thanks!
i think the circular dithering doesnt rly match with the 50% dither, i think it should be like all or nothing
EDIT: oh.. ok... since i saw the reference, those circles make kinda sense, either way wouldnt use them , also i know what this left side cross is about now ;D
Wow, thanks! I really like that edit!
Well, I did say inspired by CPC graphics, meaning I used some pretty saturated colours. Initially I had something very angular (I'm sorry I can't give a pic), quite like hi-res c64 restrictions, but I gradually allowed myself to use any shapes as long as there are two colours per 8x8 square (however I think I messed up a few times, along with dithering)
I don't really understand what you mean by 'strange dithering'... Do you mean I shaded incorrectly according to the lightsource?
This is an indirect reference: http://img162.imageshack.us/i/oizopunk.png/
Anyway, thanks once again, I'll apply some modifications to this!
nice! i like that, since im also working with those old machine restrictions recently...
u should make the color less bright, and more natural looking, u didnt rly stick to that 8x8/2color grid, and i think u should find a way to make all ur forms with 45° angles only, also im not sure about the particulary strange dithering u used (circles), think i doesnt rly match the picture and kinda looks like jpeg distortion
heres an EDIT ( was fun to do ^^)
Oh, I'll correct that... I must've read too quickly and thought it was a CPC showcase (Retro Gamer UK, no. 65, p 52).
ED: ZX Spectrum it is after a look, compared both type of graphics, which are quite different. Thank you for correcting me!
