The astronauts were exploring the moon a bit when they found something that was "dropped". Suspicious, Neil gets a stick and pokes at the substance. It was strikingly familiar. It's seen before on a farm in the pasture, a pasture patty, you see. But that couldn't have happened. here... could it?

My first piece for a weekly challenge. Done in MS Paint, it took me about three days on and off. The whole thing was tedious--especially with the moon. I have three references with the project below:

Anyway, the pixel art may not be much, but... enjoy!

@Reo -   Aw, you shouldn't have! Dude, that so wrong. What a thriller!  Nice!

I'll remember to post this for your contribution!

@ skamocore - Thanks again. What do you use to identify how many colors (color count) there are in a picture? And what do you use to identify or spot the extra colors or pixels on that picture?

user
skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 7/30/2009 12:20

Still a few extra pixels lying around. This time in magenta and green.

Also, just a heads up, it's best if you don't post multiple times in your own gallery piece. If you need to reply to multiple people at the same time you can just address everyone in the one post, such as:

@celri - blah blah blah
@skamocore - blah blah blah

It just makes things easier on everyone :)

Thanks for the tip on the astronauts poses. I'll try to remember that.

user
jamesmorrow07 (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 7/30/2009 10:14

Nope, but you're close, though. A cow. =3

user
jamesmorrow07 (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 7/30/2009 09:59

Fixed the extraeneous colors on the astronauts.

user

Thanks mate!

That is too cool!  Very detailed...good luck with the challenge :)

PS You can make changes and just re-submit untill the last minute!

Am I still able to fix it? If not I can leave it as is.

user
jamesmorrow07 (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 7/30/2009 09:35

Thanks a whole bunch! Damn... I guess I should've scanned the file's properties before. Well, I'm glad you noticed.

user
jamesmorrow07 (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 7/30/2009 09:35

That's a cow.

Funny, but you should make that 'one more thing' a bit more visible (no spoiler from me, hehe). It took me some time finding it; no chance anyone would without your clue, and so no chance to understand the picture.

The astronauts' positions are not too convincing, they have rather earthlike poses. You can't kneel in a spacesuit, and you don't need to push on your knees to bend down in low grav. Also, the kneeling is not anatomically convincing.

Agree with Hatch about dithering, too.

I do love the stars even though you're not supposed to see them ;-)

One of the best pieces so far, keep improving it!

What;s the weird brown blob  in the right quadrant "sky" area?

user
darchangel (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 7/30/2009 00:24

Skamocore beat me to it, I was just about to point out the color count.

Well lets see if I get it...judging by the title and the astronaut that appears to be poking at "something" with a stick I would say that it has something to do with the stars/constellations. A "moon pie" dropped by the Ursas maybe?

skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 7/30/2009 00:14

You have a lot of extraneous colours here. In fact you have a total of 70 colours instead of 24. It seems all of these extra colours just exist within the astronauts' suits. This may have happened due to using <100% opacity or accidentally having auto AA on in Photoshop.

Anyway, this animation points out where the pixels that need fixing are.

Thanks bro!

I love the fading of the horizon.  Stars are sweet too!
Looks great!

user
jamesmorrow07 (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 7/29/2009 20:21

Thanks! I'll try to work on that. :)

Hatch (Level 3 Hatchikyu) @ 7/29/2009 19:58

I had a giggle :D

Too much dithering the astronauts though. You should never dither something so small.

Nice stars!
