rusty color as it reminds me of the old games that I like both, I also like the score so high ^ ^
Nice work on the boss.
The platforms are nice, but I think a little more detail on the background blue mountains would of - without the dithering- would of been sweet.

This is a weird piece, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand - it certainly has nice colors, but the dithering is making it unnecessarily grainy. The dragon design is interesting, but the pose is highly unnatural. The hud design is also kind of mehh - cluttered and unappealing. There are priority issues between character and background, and the diagonal planks over the pits look just kinda lame.
Overall though, this shot reminds me of the Atari ST port of Jim Power.
Really? I feel that they did a really good job on the background. yes it has a crapload of dithering, but I feel that the way they did it is the style they were going for. Maybe not something you would do, but still good in a stylistic manner. s.hme just my input
I agree with dex, but but apart from that, it is awesome!! good job setzer.
As was pointed out on the forums, it's very awkward that the hero would stand calm, not at all ready to fight, whilst the dragon boss is in midair, ready to chop the heroes head off at any second.
Other than that, and the things listed below, this is great.
Ordered dither can be very conspicuous. Maybe try playing around with pseudo-random dither or work the dither into the rock's texture.
Those rock tiles are attracting too much attention. Dragon's pose is a little awkward, and seconding dex on the dither. Other than that, love it. Boss looks nice.
I dont know, for some reason it looks like the glow of the sword is not matching the rest of the piece. Looks too bright or something. I donno actually.
Anyway, I think this is a great piece. I am sure you are going to do really well in the challenge. From the entries that I have seen so far, yours is the best. =)
nice
