You should use a darker color then, I think that would look better.
And about the filling thing, you could always use #0A0A0A or something like that (it looks like black, but not is not black) =P
Anyway, this style is pretty nice, I dont see why you should stop doing it just because someone else does it too.
Haha, super deformed. That sounds funny. But yeah, I have many of my own styles. I just like this particular style the best. I don't like making characters with regular sized heads, it just doesn't fit into my computer games. Ive been drawing for about 12 years now. I have many different drawing styles. But yeah, I've just recently started spriting (well, its actually been 4 years if you count all the mario sprites I made).
And thanks! I would actually use a darker outline, except for the fact that I use paint, and everytime I make a new sheet, I sometimes fill the background with solid black. Its just easier to see the sprites that way. Even if I dont fill it with black, I still like using dark purple/blue for the outline.
Meh, its just short people with big heads. All the three of you use something called Super Deformed, search it on wikipedia. Its not like you are stealing their sprites or anything.
If you want to find your own style, you just need to draw a lot, and try many different things out, and one day you will find something you are comfortable with. Dont give up, some artists take years to find a style of their own.
Anyway, these sprites are really nice. I think they would look better with darker outlines but I am not sure.
Oh. Thankyou. It's just a little aggravting how no matter what I do, I can't develope a custom style without making it look like someone else's...
Well actually, now Im confused as to WHY people say my sprite looks like other people's style. I dont see much relativity in this > http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/2656/blufro.png
Its not like you have to have a certain style. IMO thats a pretty boring way to look at spriting. Try lots of different things and find out what you're comfortable with.
Well at this point i dont know what to do. I could give up. It seems like nobody is gonna recognize my sprites as my own style. I mean, thankyou to the people who think of this as MY style, but yeah. I dont know. I just might give up if I cant find a new custom style I like. I really dont like my old style in comparison to my new one. Im not saying its anybodys fault but mine. After all, Its my fault that my style looks similar to other peoples styles.
Thanks. Hm... well thats no good. Now that I look, its like I combined Konjak and 1up into my own style... is that bad?
Nice work mike, I can definately sense 1up's style coming through. Its looking great!
Love how they look very nice.
