 The Wilhelm Screamer is a psudeo-mammal in the insectae genus.
Living it's life in the dry dusty dirt of the American southwest, it will scream upon the sight of rain to warn it's fellow den members of the threat. 
Rain is incredibly dangerous to the Wilhelm Screamer, due mainly to it's size. A single raindrop is enough to drown a Screamer.
Wilhelm Screams also avoid rain and moisture due to their comfort in being dusty and dry. They are a murky green colour when clean, otherwise they are the colour of the layers of built up dirt upon them.

I enjoy making creatures, so this contest was a sure to enter for me. I think this is one of the best pieces I've done in a long time.
