"is that the HUD is quite vague :)" - Indeed. The actual game boy Megaman games had to use a HUD placed on a white space in order to make it visible, as well as made it larger in order to make the HUD readable on the gameboy screen, which while not minimalistic like the NES huds, was a necessary evil. Even the Megaman Xtreme games on Gameboy Color seemed to do this.
Anyway, my crit. Most everything about this is great, except a couple of things on Megaman. His right arm, you have bent almost 180 degrees like he's doing a chicken dance, but the official Megaman sprite on NES' arm is bent closer to 70 degrees more naturally, and that's with his arm starting with his shoulder uplifted.
His face also doesn't have as much character as the original. Even though his head is smaller, it's still possible to capture some of the character he had within that space.
Very nice! The only issue I have with it, is that the HUD is quite vague :)
