ok, maybe the jpeg> gif conversion gave the pixels diffrent sizes, never ever use jpeg again , its evil ^^, png/ tiff/ gif should do it and dont cause any damage to ur pics, ... bout the texts uglyness... its still plain ugly,.. antialias is out of control and just looks blurry also the distances between the letters are unbalanced, same for the text on the actual panels,.. , even if these are one of ur first pixel pieces, ur artistic sense, u probably should have developed throughout the years. should tell u that some things are off, like the moon isnt rly "round", background is very distracting from foreground in some places etc..:: beeing newbie is a lame excuse imo
First off, this comment/reply is likely to sound all kinds of defensive... because I am feeling very defensive... though I do appreciate any help as I am extremely new to the world of pixel art. The fact of the matter is that I just like old video games, and as such I decided to make a comic that used a very small amount of pixels. I only found out that there was a community of "pixel artists" after the fact.
Each panel of the strip IS made at the pixel level and consists of 32X32 pixels. The panels are then enlarged and put together on the "comic strip template". The font being used was found on some type of "font site" and was chosen because I liked how it looked, and I still do despite your insistence that it is "pretty ugly". And yes, it was saved as a JPEG and all of the strips I have made for my website have been saved as JPEGs thus far. I converted the JPEG to a GIF for this site, and I have a feeling that there are all kinds of reasons why I shouldn't use JPEGs but I am, as yet, uneducated in these matters. As for the text and white bg being unnacceptable, well, that's why I didn't post full strips up at first I just posted individual panels, but other members suggested that I should put up full strips so I did.
Also, for whatever it's worth, I believe the panels for this strip were only the 10th, 11th, and 12th pixel images that I attempted... and also, for what it's worth, as I continue to make more and more panels I have to say that I haven't really improved that much! Ha ha ha...
Go Lo-Ku!
i think the pixel technique could be improved also the font doesnt rly match with that pixely style...
some blocks seem to be bigger than others?some are 4x4px, some 6x6px...thats strange... did u paint the pixels?!... why not rly do it on pixel level and then enlarge it?...also that would give a much more 8bit like feel,... since ur already dealing with the nes palette that would make sense i guess
here is an edit with actual pixels, enlarged x6..... while doing the edit a recognized that you have like 250 colors going on,... did you save this as jpg at some time ?...
the auto aa'ed font of the link and the unnecessary white bg wont be accepted on PJ, also its pretty ugly, oxymoron ftw ;D
I must say I read all the comics you had and laugh my ass off, was pretty funny. I think the font and the whole stetic of the work combines with the humor and also makes it better.
I think the idea here is not that it looks like an awsome scene of pixel art but mostly that the joke can be understood and you achived that.
