I really like the orc and orc-shaman here. The colors and glowing eyes! But I agree that I would call these goblins. Perhaps its the skinnyness. And call me oldskool but aren't hobgoblins bigger than goblins?
Yea, you're correct, there's a distinct difference, still perhaps I wouldn't keep the orc ears so pointy, but it's your choice :) And of course in different fantasy settings orc ears are different, so I guess it's a question of preferance.
There you are correct :) And yea, it's in my opinion easier to follow the action in ASCII and also the gameplay is faster as you said. Waiting for the goblins then ;)
SMK, I admit I also prefer playing with ASCII mode, after you get used to it the gameplay is faster. About the goblin comparison I partly agree with you, I will publish my goblin tiles so you can make your conclusion. But I think it's already a little better than the pig-like orcs of the original tiles, huh?
I prefer ASCII mode for Nethack, but your tiles are pretty awesome. My only crit would be that in my eyes these look more like goblins than orcs :)
I really don´t know much about the differences between goblin and hobgoblin. I made them based on the game´s hierarchy.
