:D ahah, i will edit it once the results of the challenge are out. Thanks for the input, and your version was really cool!! Really made me laugh my ass off.
I know the outline was part of the challenge but I'd like to see a version posted with the outlines gone... how about it? Anyway, 5/6.
The dithering is just stunning but outlining looks bad.
I like how you did something different with the texture of the monster other than slimy/scaly skin.
Thanks alot for the advice :D!! I'd love to see a good tutorial about Screen callibration for pixel artists, if there's such a thing available, since I realize there's almost no way of knowing how does the work shows on other people's display.
Nice texture as mentioned. I think just a simple increase of contrast would do this piece much better. Maybe some small hue variotions at the browns would also spice this up a bit.
Hey, dont worry! This was just a challenge, and it was great fun and a very nice chance to learn more.
Too bad for the outline, your idea and texture are brilliant !
Same opinion of ThereIsNoCure, the outlines ruins the general impression, but I love the texturing, very nice work.
This reminds me of a creature from dnd. Don't quite remember the name. They look a bit like tree stumps :s Excellent texturing! :)
I love, love, love, love, love the texture. It's the best in the challenge so far. But as has been previously said it really is very flat and lacks depth. Some of that is the lines being kept black and some of that is that the texture is delivered and shaded as if it was on a 2d plane with no self shadowing, darkening/lightening or loss of detail towards the distance.
I'm faving anyways because as i said the texture is amazing. But i think there is alot of room for improvment. :D
Thank you for the input, I'll try to improve the next time.
the retention of the black outlines kills it. it seems rather flat, so while that texture is fantastic, volumes could use some work (the black outlines flatten it as well)
Wow, this is fantastic stuff!
