Yeah the way your piece turns out really is just about 50% how much time you spent on it. It takes getting used to, but once you get it down, it is a really great art to know well.  

Ya, i ussualy do a ton of other art other than pixel art... so its a little wierd for me, and is gunna take some getting used to... also, the patience thing hurts my art a bit as well =P

Honestly its just a little weirdly shaped. Of course the colors could use a lot of work.

if u want to get this piece approved u should atleast remove the white background, its against one of pixeljoints submission rules, if it doesnt serve any purpose though

looks very blocky and flat, try to get the shape right first.....also it seems a bit pillow-shaded... dont put ur light source in the front.. that seems very unnatural in most cases...
