It looks very nice! One thing though... Isn't it a bit too much detail and too much jumping at you for a game? Makes me kinda lose what's what (Although it could well be it's a different thing if I'd see a version of this animated
)
Genius style bend on the luigi sprite and great work overall. =D
5/5 fav
It looks a bit busy but It's apperently a mockup with much going on in, so... Things like this tend to look much better when animated.
All in all a nice job!
I would say this is the kind of visual that looks better animated; I think if we saw it animated, it wouldn't look as busy. Not saying you should spend the time to do that BAB (it'd be cool to see of course), but I think it's something that people should try keeping in mind when anyone looks at a mock up screenshot as energenic as this one is (perhaps an effectively composed shot should make people do that; hard to say).
As for making the other HUD elements brighter, I don't see it making the layout more effective for the HUD. My real issue with it isn't the colors, so much as placement (Luigi will would almost always be centered, and that ghost would almost always be right in front of him as a result). To me it looks like the Ghost is moving right towards him. And while I love that you made an interesting icon for the number of captured ghosts, I think in doing that it looses its simple importance as a just a label for a numeric representation.
But hell, you could get away with saying that icon only pops up when he's sucking up a ghost. :P
It goes in as many directions as it needs to do justice to the individual elements. Should I use the same palette on a human as a ghost? No. Should the HUD have a different palette to stand out? Definitely. Should collectable items draw attention to themselves? Yes.
Sorry, I don't really like this one, compared to your other outstanding work. I think it goes in too many directions, palette-wise, and the composition is too busy without a resting place.
Great work ! The background is excellent, so many details ! I also like the design of the ghosts ;)
It looks a tad cluttered for my tastes but I really like each piece of the whole.
This is what the Ghostbusters games back in the day should have looked like. That looks so fun, that it's a genuine bummer to know it's a mockup.
Blackbelt: I've made the other two HUD elements brighter. I think this has resolved the problem for the most part.
Shoopzation: One of the characters has a lighter, less saturated palette because they are a ghost.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
I loved, though didn't enjoy the color mixing between the characters.
You sir, are brilliant.
I did however think that the boo in the lower right was actually part of the in game action when I first looked at the screen though. I think using a purple outline helps seperate him from it, but the icon itself isn't really plain enough to look like it's part of a GUI. Possibly moving it right next to the heart might help, since then it won't be in front of Luigi.
Besides contrast problems in the bookcase, this is really great! Great colors, textures, everything.
Damn that looks amazing love to see it in full 2D awesomeness.
