thank you manupix I think you gave me some excellent advice
about the shading I used darker tone because I wanted to aa the black outline but now I see it is wrong
btw I read about the one complaining on criticism...I would almost pay for your great critiques
why dont you get some kind of medal?I mean you always help a lot of people...
All about banding. (Does one get extra points after linking a page enough times? ;)
Shading is not pillow-, but could improve. You need at least one more lighter highlight tone for each color, possibly 2. Your highlights tend to be always the same value and at the same distance from the outline, and you often start with dark shades on every side: not realistic. Think of the actual light source, let's say 45° above right: surfaces leaning towards it (top of head, chest, thigh) will be generally lighter and more contrasted than others. There goes the lightest color, and the whole ramp moves > light. If that's not clear I'll edit!
Also, take advantage of the shading stage to introduce lively details: dirt, scratches, wear. Careful! one little pixel at a time!
Legs: was next on my list. Wheteher he's alert or shooting, he should look more dynamic and wary: extend one leg in front, bend his torso and neck.
Is the gun in his hand or part of his arm? In both cases, looks like it could use an extra articulation.
Nice colors, you might try desaturating one of the ramps.
@Jeremy:thx.banding?explain that word please.
@orenshtiv:I dont think its pillow shaded, for example on his head I drew a shine on top and the lower part is darker similar thing is with his lowerpart of the leg but yes the upper part of his leg looks a bit like pillow shading
@all:is it obvious that there is his other leg in the background
Nice! Your shaping is good,but I think the colors are a little...I dunno,childish? :/
And ths is kinda pillowshading,and if it is...NEVER DO PILLOW-SHADING! lol.
look over here it might help you: http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5692
Nice colours. There's quite a bit of banding going on though.
