Come on, add some pseudo-3D road! It is so cool cockpit, but now it looks out of context.

No problem, when you said that the rotated steering wheel was my first thought why. I used an archaic method in mspaint to give the illusion of rotation by doing skew +10 and -10 horizontal/vertical, and it slightly "rotates" it, but not perfectly. I'll make the background transparent once I get PS installed, I've just switched to a PC with Windows 7 :p

Thanks for the criticism, and sorry if I came across as catty.

"and unlike some people I'm not autistic enough to commit the entire form and details of a Formula One steering wheel to memory"

hehe ;D

wip looks plausible to me.. my doubts were mainly based on the poor quality of the steering wheel.. assumed some fast tracing as reason, but seems it looks that sloppy because you've slightly rotated it. i'd recommend using the non-rotated version from the wip (would also better fit the wheel position imo =)

edit: on a side note, if you don't like white backgrounds (like lots of others), than there's something interesting for you on the market: transparency =)

Alright just because of the pure audacity of trying to say that this isn't my own or that I traced this, here's the composition shots:

There's a reference there because realism and accuracy are important to me, and unlike some people I'm not autistic enough to commit the entire form and details of a Formula One steering wheel to memory.

What makes you "doubt" that I drew the cockpit myself? I can show you the composition/process files if you really want. I'll reupload it with a white background then.

I agree, I had a lot of reservations when submitting this and if it's a big deal I'll take it down and re-up whenever I draw a BG for it. This is pretty old and at the time I was so exhausted from drawing the cockpit and details that I was too lazy to draw a background. But, thanks for the compliment on the focal point.

despite the fact that i doubt you pixeled the cockpit 100% on your own (looks like a bad trace to me, reference?):

using a jpeg-background doesn't work on this site.. using third party background neither does, the white background argument is irrelevant - would be pretty much the same as if ppl start decorating empty areas of their pixel-art with their fav centerfold..

.. welcome to the site still =)

Good cockpit, but I fear that using artwork other than your own is not allowed for this site's gallery. I think that constructing your own road will not be too hard. But simulating low-poly game is a good opportunity to learn perspective - vanishing points and such.
